Max Care and Star Health, major insurance providers, manage vast amounts of medical documents daily. Their need for faster, more accurate data extraction from these documents drove the search for an AI-based solution to streamline operations and improve claims management.

The Challenge

Max Care and Star Health faced several key issues:

  • Handwritten Notes: Many medical records were handwritten, complicating data extraction.

  • Terminology Variability: Differences in medical jargon, abbreviations, and writing styles led to inconsistencies in structured data extraction.

  • Data Privacy: Ensuring compliance with regulations like HIPAA and GDPR was a major concern.

  • Seamless Integration: The extracted data needed to integrate smoothly with their existing claims processing systems.

Solution Approach

We crafted a customized AI-powered solution to address the unique challenges of medical document extraction:

  • Handwritten OCR: We developed a specialized Optical Character Recognition model capable of accurately reading and extracting data from handwritten medical notes, ensuring no vital information is overlooked.

  • Medical NLP Models: Our team trained advanced Natural Language Processing models on healthcare-specific datasets, enabling precise extraction of diagnoses, treatments, and other critical information from unstructured text, enhancing data accuracy.

  • Secure Data Pipeline: We implemented a robust data processing pipeline designed to adhere to strict privacy regulations, safeguarding sensitive patient information and ensuring full compliance with relevant laws.

  • Integration Tools: Our solution included custom integration tools that seamlessly merged the extracted data into existing claims management systems, promoting efficiency and accuracy in the workflow.
